SOCIAL CHANGE THROUGH EMOTIONAL WELLNESS

Bullying is a very real, very common, almost epidemic problem in schools and can affect students’ well-being in many ways. Targeted children often suffer from poor performance in school, sleep issues, anxiety, and depression and may suffer a serious and lasting decline in self-esteem. And, Bullies often grow up to be unhappy adults. They often remain depressed and anxious & develop aggressive nature, and find difficulty in holding down a job, retaining and maintaining relationships.

WE BELIEVE that it is necessary for the students as well as the parents and the school authority, all to realise the menace of bullying and its immediate and long-lasting affect on children and prevent all from this threat, physical or emotional.

PROACTIVE MEASURES FOR SAFE SCHOOL

Sleepwell Foundation conducted workshop on How To Stop Bullying for the Students of 5th – 8th Standard of Atal Adarsh Bengali Balika Vidyalaya, New Delhi.

173 students attended the workshop held in 2 batches.

The objective of the workshop was to address and prevent bullying at school in order to make the school an emotionally safe space.

The workshop was very interactive where the students expressed themselves earnestly and were outright in accepting their role either as the perpetrator or as the victim.

During the workshop the trainers talked and discussed the ill effects of bullying with the students. The consequences of bullying were made known which made the bullies realise their mistake. The workshop also taught the students what step they can take if they were bullied.

The children felt happy to have such a workshop in the school.
