SOCIAL CHANGE THROUGH SKILL DEVELOPMENT

The principal’s job description has expanded to a point that today’s school leader is expected to perform in the role of “Chief Learning Officer,” with ultimate responsibility for the success or failure of the enterprise. Today’s principal must be prepared to focus time, attention and effort on changing what students are taught, how they are taught, and what they are learning. This formidable challenge demands a new breed of school leaders, with skills and knowledge far greater than those expected of “School Managers” in the past.

WE BELIEVE that unless we train school leaders to have a deep knowledge about how to improve the core functions of a school, we will do little to resolve spotty leadership, low-achieving schools and under-served students.
