Sleepwell Foundation organised a Teacher Development Workshop at Yash Memorial School, Noida, on 21 September 2026, for 30 teachers and 5 members of the school management. Facilitated by Ms Praveen Gautam and Ms Pratima Virwani in English and Hindi, the workshop focused on two key areas—Effective Communication Skills and Handling Difficult Students & Situations. The sessions aimed to support educators in responding to the evolving needs of today’s classrooms by moving beyond discipline-focused approaches towards empathetic understanding, effective communication, constructive responses, and the well-being of both students and teachers.
The sessions on Effective Communication and Handling Difficult Students & Situations focused on helping teachers build positive classroom relationships and respond constructively to challenging behaviours. Teachers explored active listening, appropriate tone, body language, empathy, positive reinforcement, and clear communication while avoiding labelling, humiliation, shouting, or physical force. The 5-Step Response Model—Pause, Observe, Understand, Respond Calmly, and Reflect—was introduced to encourage thoughtful responses, professional boundaries, and appropriate support when situations require further intervention.
