Sleepwell Foundation organized a workshop on Emotional Wellness & Emotional First-Aid on Friday, 9th October 2026, at Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women, University of Delhi, for 120 undergraduate students. Facilitated by Ms. Vickie Rai and Ms. Neelam Agarwal, Trainers and Facilitators, the session was conducted under the Foundation’s Proactive Emotional Wellness Workshops initiative. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about emotional health, encourage students to recognize and understand their emotions, and equip them with practical techniques to manage emotional distress, emphasizing the importance of proactive emotional care in promoting overall physical, psychological, and behavioural well-being.

The workshop explored the importance of understanding emotions and addressing common misconceptions, emphasizing that emotions are natural responses that provide valuable insights into an individual’s needs and experiences. The facilitators discussed how emotional avoidance and neglect can affect physical health, emotional stability, behaviour, relationships, and everyday functioning. Participants were encouraged to recognize early signs of emotional distress, understand their feelings without judgment, and adopt healthier coping strategies rather than suppressing uncomfortable emotions.

The session also introduced practical techniques for emotional first-aid, including pausing to regain composure, maintaining physical wellness, acknowledging and observing emotions, connecting with trusted individuals, and seeking professional help when needed. The facilitators highlighted that emotional pain deserves care and attention, and that seeking support is a sign of strength and self-awareness. Overall, the workshop encouraged participants to prioritize emotional well-being, develop resilience, and cultivate healthier ways of managing everyday challenges.
